David grew up in the Natal Midlands in South Africa. After graduating from Diocesan College in
Cape Town, David attended the University of Cape Town where he earned a Bachelor of
Commerce degree.
In the 1980s, David moved to New York to further his education. He received his B.B.A. in Management, and an M.B.A. in Marketing. While teaching at Hunter College Elementary School in New York, David earned his Ms. Ed. and Advanced Certificate in Gifted Education. In 2014, David graduated from the Private School Leadership program at the Klingenstein Center (Columbia University) following five years of teaching fifth grade at Allen-Stevenson, a boys school in Manhattan. David writes an education blog and is co-inventor of the successful Intooba Math/STEAM Construction Kit and other educational games for kids.

Rob is an art teacher at the Allen-Stevenson School. He is an Art and Design Education educator and the Co-Director of Creative Art Start, an after-school and summer arts program for K-8 children and youth. Rob is also an adjunct faculty member in the Art Education Program at New York University. He teaches pedagogy in art education and human development through the arts. He is Director of Creative Art Start, LLC, a company that runs highly successful after-school programs and a summer art camp in New York City.
Prior to coming the USA, Rob was Head of the Department of Fine Art and then Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Johannesburg (Formerly Technikon Witwatersrand). As Dean he was involved in the transformation of the institution away from apartheid structures. McCallum received his PhD in Art Education from New York University, MA in Art Education from Ohio State University as a Fulbright Scholar, and BA Art from Cape Town University, South Africa.
Rob is a practicing artist/designer/inventor. He has a passion for investigating pedagogy related to the teaching and application of product development in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM). Rob is a co-founder of ArtsAction Group which designs and produces community-based collaborative art with children and youth in conflict affected environments . He does this in collaboration with his wife, Cindy Maguire, PHD. Current projects are at Fellbach Haus in Theranda, Kosovo, Western Sahara refugee camps in Algeria, healing centered engagement in the arts in northern Sri Lanka, New York City and Long Island.
